Zen and martial art are one
“Dhamo” or ”Bodhidharma” a wise man of the warrior cast from a place in south India call Tamil Nadu was 28th patriarch of “Shakyamuni”, arrived at the shaolin monastery and retreated for nine years into a mountain cave at the West side behind and above the monastery, there he reached a higher a higher state of consciousness (kaidao) 开导。
After his return to the monastery, the 禅“Chan”-doctrine, better known as “Zen”, was integrated into the practice of martial arts and, later on, expanded rapidly throughout China.
The fundamental basis of the teachings passed on from “Dhamo” is one of simplicity and freedom from barriers. Whatever we do and wherever we are, Chan applies.
